The External Rectifier connection kit allows you to easily connect to the 3-phase External Rectifier pigtail of any WindBlue alternator equipped with an External Rectifier adapter. This allows you to extend the distance from the alternator / wind generator to your batteries without suffering the voltage and current loss that affects DC circuits over long cable runs. It also limits the cost of using long expensive #6 gauge cables to reach your batteries, allowing for the use of much cheaper 10-12 AWG 3-conductor extension cords or standard 3-conductor type wire.
1 Heavy Duty Bridge Rectifier

The first step is to find a suitable location to mount the rectifier. It should be mounted in a convenient location close to the batteries. Also try to limit the total distance (including tower height) from the wind generator to the battery location to 200 feet or less. This will keep the voltage drop across the AC section of your wire run to a minimum. We recommend at least a 12 AWG three conductor extension cord be used for the connection at the alternator and to run down the tower to the batteries. Extension cords are flexible and can twist as the wind generator mount turns in the wind.
Note: WindBlue External Rectifier equipped alternators can still be connected for DC output by using the battery terminal on the back of alternator, however, only one output should be connected to your batteries at a time. The other should be left unconnected.
WARNING: This kit DOES NOT make your alternator a “Grid-Tie” unit so don’t try to wire the External Rectifier into the fuse box of your house as death, fire, and destruction will likely result !!
